W Holandii ser, rower, śledź i tulipan,
a Polak wszędzie – jak Superman!
Ma siłę, ma dryg i serce do ludzi,
nic go nie złamie, nic go nie trudzi!

Na targu „dzień dobry”, w domu „siema”,
choć czasem tęskni – to żaden temat!
Bo gdzie by nie był, gdzie los go gna,
Polak potrafi – i hop, hop, ha!

Czy w Utrechcie, w Hadze czy Delft,
Polak potrafi – bez żadnych „help”!
pracuje, świętuje, tańczy, śni –
i Polska w sercu – na zawsze brzmi!

Dzień Polonii i Polaków za Granicą

Dzień Polonii i Polaków za Granicą, obchodzony 2 maja, został ustanowiony przez Sejm RP w 2002 roku. Za tą inicjatywą stało uznanie „wielowiekowego dorobku i wkładu Polonii i Polaków za granicą w odzyskanie przez Polskę niepodległości, wierność oraz przywiązanie do polskości, a także pomoc Ojczyźnie w najtrudniejszych momentach”.

Polski rząd, uznając szczególną rolę Polonii, uważa współpracę ze środowiskami polonijnymi za jeden ze swoich priorytetów. Minister spraw zagranicznych Jacek Czaputowicz w exposé wygłoszonym w marcu tego roku w Sejmie RP podkreślił, że „chcielibyśmy, aby nasi rodacy stali się ważnym sojusznikiem rządu w promowaniu polskiej racji stanu, polskiej kultury i pamięci narodowej, polskiej narracji historycznej”.

Wierząc, iż jubileusz ten jest ważny dla wszystkich rodaków – niezależnie od miejsca, w którym żyją – szczególnie dziś łączymy się myślą z Polakami za granicą, dziękując im za działania na rzecz dobra naszego państwa.

Według danych MSZ, poza granicami Polski żyje dziś ok. 20 milionów Polaków i osób pochodzenia polskiego. Dużą grupę stanowią osoby, które pozostały na terenach wschodnich po przesunięciu granic państwa. Inni – współcześni emigranci – tworzą współczesną Polonię w krajach Zachodu. Największą diasporą jest Polonia amerykańska. W 2012 roku w samych Stanach Zjednoczonych ponad 9,6 mln osób zadeklarowało polskie pochodzenie.

[NED] Dag van de Poolse diaspora en Polen in het buitenland

De Dag van de Poolse diaspora en Polen in het buitenland, gevierd op 2 mei, werd in 2002 ingesteld door de Sejm van de Republiek Polen. Deze initiatief was een erkenning van de “eeuwenlange prestaties en bijdragen van de Poolse diaspora en Polen in het buitenland aan het herstel van de Poolse onafhankelijkheid, hun trouw en verbondenheid met het Poolse erfgoed, alsook hun steun aan het moederland in de moeilijkste momenten.”

De Poolse regering, die de bijzondere rol van de Poolse diaspora erkent, beschouwt samenwerking met de Poolse gemeenschappen in het buitenland als een van haar prioriteiten. Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Jacek Czaputowicz benadrukte in zijn toespraak in de Sejm in maart van dit jaar: “Wij zouden graag zien dat onze landgenoten een belangrijke bondgenoot van de regering worden in het promoten van het Poolse nationale belang, de Poolse cultuur en nationale herinnering, en de Poolse historische visie.”

In de overtuiging dat deze jubileumdag belangrijk is voor alle landgenoten – ongeacht waar zij wonen – voelen wij ons vandaag bijzonder verbonden met de Polen in het buitenland, en danken wij hen voor hun inzet ten behoeve van ons vaderland.

Volgens gegevens van het Poolse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken leven er vandaag de dag ongeveer 20 miljoen Polen en mensen van Poolse afkomst buiten Polen. Een grote groep bestaat uit mensen die op de oostelijke gebieden zijn gebleven na de verschuiving van de landsgrenzen. Anderen – hedendaagse emigranten – vormen de moderne Poolse diaspora in West-Europese landen. De grootste diaspora is die in de Verenigde Staten. In 2012 verklaarden meer dan 9,6 miljoen mensen in de VS van Poolse afkomst te zijn.

[ENG] Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day

In 2002, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland established the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day to be celebrated on 2 May in recognition of the "long-standing achievements and contribution of the Polish diaspora and Poles living abroad in helping Poland regain its independence, of their loyalty and attachment to their Polish identity, as well as of their assistance to the homeland in times of need."

Poland’s government recognises the special role of the Polish diaspora and considers the cooperation with Polish communities abroad to be one of its priorities. In his address to the Polish Sejm in March this year, Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz stressed that "we would like our compatriots to become an important ally of the government in promoting Poland’s national interest, culture, national memory and historical narrative.”

We believe that this jubilee is important for all our compatriots, no matter where they live, and therefore especially on this day we reach out to Poles abroad thanking them for their work and commitment to their country.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about 20 million Poles and people of Polish origin currently live outside Poland. Many of them remained in the eastern territories after the state’s borders shifted, whereas others moved abroad more recently and make up Polish communities in Western countries. The largest Polish community is in the United States, where over 9.6 million people declared to be of Polish origin (2012).
